August 11th - A day of conversations
We split up to cover two events today. Lampstone and I went to Makindu and Levi stayed in Mombasa with Samson.
Makindu trip:
Arrived after 4 hours of carpooling with a group headed to Nairobi.
Met with local pastors and learned of many things God is doing in Makindu.
Joined in a fundraiser for Lampstone's upcoming wedding.
Talked much with Lampstone about God's work here.
Rode the night bus back to Mombasa.
Mombasa events:
Visited houses, blessing and praying with people.
Prayed for a man on crutches oppressed by polio. Though resistant at first he was born again! His pain from earlier in the morning also subsided.
Praised God with the church.
Levi taught about the power of testimony and then about hope through leadership.
Had dinner at the house of Jimmy, a local church member, with his wife and family.
Lampstone's prayer requests:
Financial provision. The church hopes to purchase land for an actual building: After being evicted from the public school building because of the complaints from Muslims they are now meeting in a small open-sided cement hut built for chickens. The land where they hope to build is for sale for about $10,000 usd.
That new Christians would mature in their faith and continue to step up in service.
For a harvest of souls - that each christian here would be a participant, not just an observer, in an endtime revival.
For his family. Many of his siblings have been struggled with divorce. His mom is in poor health, which can be very discouraging when God seems to be healing so many people but not her.
That any spirit of pride or selfishness that might be in him would be snuffed out as God builds him up.
Other fun notes & praises:
We've been very blessed with safety.
Baboons, monkeys, and zebras at times walk the highway beside us.
Most Kenyans here are extremely shocked when a white man asks them in Kiswahili how their day went. :-)

My dear Brothers in Christ,
ReplyDeleteI read all the posts here and am praising God for all that God has prepared you for and for how He is using you 2. May you be strenghtened, encouraged, kept safe from physical as well as spirtual harm.
Today at communion the idea of looking ahead to eternity with God was brought up. It was different for me as lately I've been seeing so many people in the hospital who are about to die. Eternity with Jesus, what a reunion. May the God of the universe use you two in ways you could never of imagined or scripted. Peace be with you and all those that you're interacting with.

ReplyDeleteLEARN TO ENJOY LIFE MORE. Relax, remembering that I am God with you. I crafted you with enormous capacity to know Me and enjoy My Presence. When My people wear sour faces and walk through their lives with resigned rigidity, I am displeased. When you walk through a day with childlike delight, savoring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Me, your ever-present Shepherd. The more you focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life. Glorify Me through your pleasure in Me. Thus you proclaim My Presence to the watching world.
Matthew 1:23
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
John 10:10-11
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Gabriel & Levi,
Thank you for being such a blessing, both to the people in Kenya and the people here following your good work; you are an inspiration to us all.
Thank you for sharing Lampstone's prayer requests, we will definately pray for him. We will also pray for your continued saftey, health, and that God continue work through you to change the lives of everyone you come in contact with.
